For the merchandise design, AG Hedvig wanted to use a motive of the famous climate justice activist Greta Thunberg, together with two Swedish gangster rappers, Greekazo and 1.Cuz. The text is a quote by Greekazo, meaning “Save our planet.”

AG Hedvig is a climate justice group based in Malmö, taking political action and forming opinion on various platforms and forums, both in Sweden and abroad. I was commissioned with designing a logo for them, and also with the making of a political banner, which ended up as a print design for t-shirts.

I took inspiration from literature, and I found the book History of Bees by Maja Lunde particularly interesting. I wanted to find a symbol that would not only convey a feeling of power, but also connotations of collectivism and strength by unity. I sketched both roses and bees, and ended up making several drafts with different types of bumblebees. Bumblebees are relatively small creatures, but equipped with stings, and so together they can defend themselves against enemies that are many times larger.
