Concept art for the book project Orädda städer made in 2020. The work consisted of developing design for the Swedish translation of the book Fearless Cities / Ciudades sin miedo.

The main focus for the project Orädda städer was to produce a design that would make the contents of the book accessible for the general public and the target groups of the publishing house.

Orädda städer is a book by and about the global movement of muncipalism. It contains stories, guide texts and political analysis about urban political struggles, how to organize in local political issues and establish progressive relations in everyday life. Many of the different texts of the book tries to apply womens and childrens perspectives on these issues, regarding them as building blocks for a more equal society.

The layout of the book was based on a grid constructed for making it easier to emphasize hierarchical relations in the chapters, often divided in different types of text, lists and glossaries.

The concept art from 2020 was used as a base for the final project, which was printed in black & white instead of colors, and with a somewhat changed layout. Orädda städer was published in 2022 at Lode förlag.

The illustration work with the book had an important purpose, to convey a particular sense of experimentation and creative childishness rooted in the philosophy of municipalism. Specifically women and children are important as the centre of attention of the political ideas, to create cities that will not only house but also be the homes of future, sustainable generations.
